(The Hill) -- X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, will begin collecting biometric data and information on users’ employment and education history starting next month, according to the site’s updated privacy policy.“Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes,” X said in the new privacy policy, set to go into effect on Sept. 29.The social media platform told Bloomberg Law that the biometric data collection is for X Premium users, or those who pay for the platform’s subscription service, to allow for an additional layer of verification.X did not specify what biometric data it plans to collect. However, such data can include facial images, fingerprints and iris patterns. BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The Brookfield Zoo has welcomed a new member to its antelope family. For the second time in less than a year, Brookfield Zoo’s nyalas — Zola and Hamilton — are parents to a calf. The 14-pound male calf was born on Tuesday, Aug. 29. He'll join two other siblings, nearly 3-year-old Leah and 9-month-old Zuri. The Capitol attending physician on Thursday said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is “medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned,” after he appeared to freeze up while taking questions from reporters Wednesday.Brian Monahan, the attending physician, said he consulted with McConnell and conferred with the GOP leader’s neurology team. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin City Council on Thursday unanimously approved Robin Henderson as the Austin Police Department's new interim police chief. Henderson spoke exclusively with KXAN photographer Ed Zavala after the council's approval. She talked about APD staffing levels and recruitment efforts, public safety and downtown safety, and her priorities as interim chief. Watch the interview in the above video player. She said it's a "tremendous honor, privilege and pleasure" to take over as APD's interim chief. Henderson has served with APD for 26 years, most recently as chief of staff to Chief Joseph Chacon, who announced his retirement last week. Police have arrested two men in a shooting on St. Paul’s Raspberry Island that killed a 20-year-old man about two weeks ago.Homicide investigators served a search warrant at an apartment in the 6200 block of Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center Wednesday. They took two men into custody at the apartment — a 24-year-old from St. Paul and a 23-year-old from Maplewood — on suspicion of murder.On Aug. 14 about 9 p.m., police were called to Raspberry Island, the Mississippi River park across from downtown St. Paul, on a report of a shooting. There had been a large group gathered, an altercation and shots fired, police said at the time.Marcus Anthony Baker Jr., of St. Paul, was shot. He was taken to Regions Hospital and pronounced dead that night.Police said Thursday the investigation is ongoing and investigators plan to forward the case to the Ramsey County attorney’s office for charging consideration.
