Save Austin Now launches new website to hold local prosecutors 'accountable' AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Save Austin Now announced Friday a new project focused on holding the Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza and County Attorney Delia Garza accountable "on behalf of crime victims" after House Bill 17 took effect on Friday.Save Austin Now, along with the Law Enforcement Association of Texas (CLEAT) and SafeHorns, launched the website, Garzawatch.com, to track progress and seek relevant information from the community, the release said.HB 17, authored by Texas Rep. David Cook, (R-Mansfield), allows Texas residents to call for removal of a district attorney if the DA chooses not to prosecute certain crimes.Texas residents can file a petition that accuses the district attorney of “incompetency, official misconduct or intoxication,” according to reporting by The Texas Tribune. Historic investment in Missouri's colleges, universities is helping retain students COLUMBIA, MO. -- It's the largest investment in higher education in decades, sending an additional $70 million to public colleges and universities. Missouri colleges and universities are getting a major boost, a 7% funding increase. This leaves the University of Missouri System, which includes Mizzou, UMKC, UMSL and Missouri S&T set to receive nearly half a billion dollars in total core funding. That's why the state's largest university said it's a big part of why its retention rate is at an all-time high. "We've seen a 3% growth this year over last year," University of Missouri Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies Jim Spain said. LOUIS -- With Labor Day weekend ahead of us, travelers will be taking their last vacation of the summer.   Friday and Monday are expected to be the busiest days to fly. The Federal Aviation Administration predicts that this will be the third-busiest holiday weekend of the year. The TSA says it expects an 11 percent increase in passengers this Labor Day weekend compared to last year. The TSA also expects to screen more than 14 million passengers from Friday through Wednesday. That number doesn't worry Patty and Carl McKown.
