Uwazurike was inactive for four of the five games outlined in the complaint — Denver’s first three of the season and a Dec. 11 home game against Kansas City — but he is alleged to have bet on a Dec. 18 game against Arizona in which he played.Uwazurike, who late last month was suspended for at least a year for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, also wagered on two games he played in while at Iowa State, the complaint says.Overall, the FanDuel account linked to U...

Retooling or restocking is probably more to their liking. But no matter the semantics, the Rockies’ actions in the weeks, days and hours leading up to Tuesday’s MLB trade deadline revealed their blueprint. Cron (first base), Randal Grichuk (outfield), Mike Moustakas (corner infield), Brad Hand (left-handed reliever) and Pierce Johnson (right-handed reliever).“It was about pitching and we were looking at opportunities to play some of our young guys,” Schmidt said. “But really, the focus was on adding pitching because we do think we have some good position players (coming up).“And we saw what happened a couple of weeks ago with some (pitching injuries), so it’s purely about ...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Max Scherzer never anticipated being traded from the New York Mets, and said the sentiment in their clubhouse was that the underachieving team that had expected to contend for a World Series title this year would reload for 2024.Scherzer instead found out the Mets were shifting their focus past that date — until after his contract expires. The three-time Cy Young Award winner waived his no-trade clause to be dealt to the Texas Rangers after conversations with New York general manager Billy Eppler and owner Steve Cohen about the team’s plans following his final start for the Mets. “(Eppler’s) answer was that the team is now kind of shifting vision and that they’re looking to compete now for 2025 and 2026, and that 2024, that it was not going to be a reload situation in New York, and that it was going to be more of a transition in 2024,” Scherzer said when he was introduced by the Rangers on Tuesday, two days after the deal was announced. Since that...
